IMI Level 2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities

This award is designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicles.  It contains the skills and knowledge required to work safely around a vehicle’s high and low voltage electrical system and electric drivetrain system, whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance.

This is a two day course and covers:

  • electric/hybrid vehicle system components and operation
  • hazards surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles
  • how to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on electric/hybrid vehicles
  • safely preparing the vehicle when carrying routine maintenance (NOT high voltage components or systems)

The course consists of classroom presentations and practical demonstrations/exercises in the workshop. A practical assessment and ‘online’ multiple choice exam is required to complete the assessment.  On completing this qualification, technicians will have gained knowledge of both low and high voltage technologies and an understanding of their dangers.
